Clinton's Incivility

Remember when Hillary Clinton referred to half of Trump supporters as "deplorable and irredeemable"?  She later tried to apologize by saying, "I regret saying 'half' -- that was wrong."

Well now we know that she really meant to say "all Trump supporters" were deplorable.

Speaking to CNN yesterday, Hillary was asked about restoring civility in our political discourse.  She said:

"You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about. . . If we are fortunate enough to win back the House and/or the Senate, that's when civility can start again."

Mrs. Clinton should choose her words more carefully.  It is the political left that talks about "fundamentally transforming" America and that is constantly attacking the symbols, institutions and established values that so many people cherish.

Remember during the 2016 presidential debate when Hillary demanded that Donald Trump publicly commit to accepting the election results no matter what?  Hillary and the radical left have never fully accepted the election results!

The peaceful transition of power, which depends on respect for civility in politics, is the foundation of our constitutional republic.  Sadly, it seems the left has rejected this essential principle.

Just a few weeks ago, Clinton sat in the National Cathedral at John McCain's funeral.  Speaker after speaker decried the lack of civility in politics.  Apparently, Hillary wasn't paying attention.

In the wake of the Kavanaugh hearings, which most Americans believe were a "national disgrace," Hillary seemingly just called for more incivility!

Let me remind Hillary about how her side has been acting lately.

It wasn't that long ago when prominent #NeverTrumpers saw Hillary Clinton as an acceptable liberal they could do business with.  But far from denouncing the fanatical open borders, anti-Israel, socialist uprising on the left, establishment politicians like Hillary are now embracing it.

Insulting The Police

It's not just anti-Trump rhetoric that plagues our civil discourse.  The culture is saturated with left-wing hatred for America and the institutions that preserve civil society, including the men and women who serve on the Thin Blue Line.

While many Americans were focused on the Kavanaugh controversy, members of the Forest Hill High School band performed a halftime show during their game against Brookhaven High School.  Unbelievably, the performance featured students dressed as members of a SWAT team cowering on the ground at gunpoint.

Even worse, this show took place just days after two Brookhaven police officers were gunned down.  The Forest Hill band director has been suspended.

Mississippi is not California.  It is not New York.  But just a handful of haters were able to push this disgusting narrative.

Where was the principal of the school?  Where were the parents of the teenagers in the band?

Some people think we should lower the voting age to 16.  But why did these 16 year-old students who performed this horrible show think it was a good idea?

My friends, please pay attention to what is going on in your schools.

Harping On Haley

U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley stunned Washington yesterday when she announced her intention to resign at the end of the year.  During an Oval Office press conference, Haley and the president were extremely supportive of one another.

The president praised Haley's service, and Haley said she was not running in 2020.  In fact, she said that she would be proudly campaigning for Trump's re-election.

Yet the media insist on speculating that she is secretly plotting a primary challenge.  Or that she was the author of the anonymous New York Times op-ed bashing the president.

But most of all, reporters are puzzled as to why Haley's resignation didn't leak before yesterday's announcement.

Well, it turns out that she met with the president privately a week ago and made it clear then that she wanted to step down.  Haley committed to stay throughout the year, giving the president time to find a replacement.

She did not tell anyone on her staff, and the president did not tell anyone on his staff.  Sadly, that is what must be done now in order to prevent bureaucrats from leaking to the press.

But listening to the media chatter this morning got me thinking:  What if they had not taken such precautions?  What if in the middle of the intense Kavanaugh battle word leaked to the press that Ambassador Haley was resigning?

I guarantee that the media would have immediately suggested that Haley was leaving because of the handling of the Kavanaugh/Ford confrontation.  And all the denials in the world by Haley and the president would not have changed the left-wing media's false narrative.
