Media Bias

If you need an explanation for why there is such division in America, blame the liberal media.  Unfortunately, most Americans aren't listening to Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity.  They aren't watching Fox News or reading these daily reports.

As a result, they are getting distorted and biased information that often neglects to report key details and fails to provide the full story.

For example, virtually no one in the mainstream media is talking about the radical atheistic worldview of Devin Kelley, the Sutherland Springs church shooter.  It is striking how his hatred of Christianity is largely ignored by big media.

If anything, most Americans are likely to hear liberal reports mentioning that he once "did some work as a Bible teacher."  In other words, big media are trying to put the opposite spin on the truth.

We've seen this time and time again.  The media will take any crime by a radical Muslim and whitewash it, insisting that it had nothing to do with Islam.  The only thing that complicates their efforts is when surviving victims insist the jihadist was shouting "Allahu Akbar."

Now we are seeing that the media will whitewash crimes by radical leftists and atheists.  All the media outlets had to do was cursory journalism -- go to Kelley's social media posts and talk to his friends.  And yet all these big media empires won't report what is so obvious.

By the way, have you heard about Koigate?  It's a perfect example of big media's left-wing bias.  In Japan Sunday, President Trump and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe fed some fish.

According to progressive journalists and media outlets, Trump carelessly dumped all the fish food into the koi pond.  We're lucky his blundering didn't trigger an international incident!

There's only one problem with Koigate.  Numerous media outlets deliberately manipulated the event to portray Donald Trump as an ignorant buffoon who is unqualified to be president.  Prime Minister Abe dumped his container of food into the pond moments before President Trump did.

But if you're only watching CNN, you're only getting fake news.

More Media Manipulation

Law enforcement authorities in Sutherland Texas are reporting that the body of church shooter Devin Kelley had three gunshot wounds.  Two were the result of a brave barefoot plumber, Stephen Willeford

When Willeford heard about the shooting at the church across the street, he grabbed his rifle and ran out of his house with no shoes on.  "He saw me and I saw him," Willeford said.  He fired two shots, one hit Kelley in the torso and one hit him in the leg.

As Kelley drove off, Willeford jumped into Johnnie Langendorff's truck and told him what happened.  "Let's go," Langendorff said.  He later told reporters, "There was no thinking about it. There was just doing. . .  Act now.  Ask questions later."

What you may not know from the media coverage is that Willeford is a former NRA instructor.  I'm going to make a wild guess that you won't see this headline anytime soon:   "NRA Instructor Stops Church Shooting."

By the way, not one mass shooter in modern American history has been a member of the NRA.  So the only involvement of NRA "gun nuts" in mass shootings has been to stop them.

But if the church killer had attended classes at Focus on the Family or the Christian Coalition, I guarantee that would be "news."

A barefoot plumber and a truck driver -- a couple of real "deplorables" -- saved many lives Sunday.  "I think my God, my Lord protected me and gave me the skills to do what needed to be done," Willeford said.  Amen to that!

Air Force Dropped The Ball

Unfortunately, we are also learning that the Air Force dropped the ball when it failed to report that Kelley was convicted of a serious domestic assault against his wife and child.  That conviction should have prevented him from purchasing firearms.

Keep in mind that Kelley served in the Air Force from 2010 to 2014.  It was the Obama Air Force that neglected to transmit the relevant information.

Here's the bottom line:  This situation is not evidence of the need for more laws and limits on our constitutional rights.  It is evidence of the need to enforce existing laws.

Comey Gets Caught

Congressional investigators looking into former FBI Director James Comey's handling of the Clinton email scandal have discovered something interesting.   An early draft of Comey's public statement explaining his findings used the phrase "grossly negligent" to describe Hillary's handling of classified material.

As we know, Comey didn't use that phrase.  Instead, he accused Clinton of being "extremely careless."  That may not seem like a big distinction but it is a huge distinction legally.  "Gross negligence" is part of the law Hillary violated.  But Comey couldn't say that if he was trying to let Hillary off the hook.

President Obama repeatedly "interfered" in Comey's investigation by publicly insisting Hillary didn't do anything wrong.  But I don't think anyone had to order Comey to clear Hillary.

Virtually everyone in D.C. believed she was going to win the election.  They thought Trump was going to be a historic loser.  Every government official from James Comey down believed that they would be spending the next four to eight years interacting with "President Hillary."  And I have no doubt that the "conventional wisdom" in Washington unduly influenced many decisions last year.

Speaking Of Last Year. . .

One year ago this morning, Carol and I were boarding a plane to New York City.  Our plane was filled with Clinton operatives going to New York to be part of what they knew would be an incredible celebration of their historic landslide victory.

Some of them recognized us and there was plenty of laughter about what a bad night we were going to have.

After we landed, I checked my phone for breaking news.  The big story of the morning was from liberal political analyst Nate Silver.  He had flipped Florida and North Carolina into Clinton's column, giving her a 71.4% chance of victory.  All the polls but one predicted a Clinton presidency.

Well, the rest is history. . .  except for one little tidbit.

Carol and I flew back to Washington, D.C., the next morning on the same shuttle.  On the return flight were many of the same Clinton operatives who were having such a good time at our expense the morning before.  I spent the next hour wrestling with schadenfreude.  (Taking pleasure in another's misfortune.)

Enjoy this blast from the past one year ago today!
